An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced case handler with significant Employment knowledge and management to lead a team of employment lawyers based in Bristol. There is an experienced team of handlers already in place dealing with a wide range of worksources including LEIs, liability insurers, businesses, consumers and institutions covering both claimant and respondent work.



The successful candidate will report directly to the Group Leader and Partner of the employment team, and will be expected to play a full and active part in all that the Division does, in particular maintaining the link between the Bristol and Leeds teams.



This role also comes with the opportunity for future career development into a senior manager role subject to performance and contribution to the group and business.



Hybrid working:



This role would be based in our Bristol office and we offer a blend of both office and home working.

Duties/Responsibilities:



You will be responsible for providing strategic, technical and practical guidance within your area of expertise and will build a strong relationship with the experts that already exist within the group. You will set an example of best practice in the conduct of insurance litigation.



Additional duties include:

* To take responsibility for the budget of the team and to maximise the profitability of the group,

* To represent the group by communicating effectively internally and externally to build excellent working relationships,

* To lead in the auditing of cases to ensure a consistently high standard,

* To manage performance of employees using all tools available,

* To handle complaints within the group and to liaise with the Compliance department where necessary,

* To lead all recruitment for your team, delegating as appropriate, and supporting wider recruitment across the Group when required,

* To line manage the supervisors within the Bristol team,

* Support and help the supervisors develop themselves and the team,

* To lead and promote compliance with the Company's Policies and Procedures within the group.



Skills/Competencies required:



Essential:

* Fully qualified Solicitor, CILEX lawyer or equivalent;

* A passion for employment law and for providing commercial and practical solutions;

* Ability to maintain high levels of flexibility, adapt to and help drive through change through supporting colleagues



Experience required:

* Extensive experience of Employment work,

* Experience of dealing with both lay and insurer clients,

* Experience of liaising with defendant insurer claims handlers,

* Experience of leading and supervising a team,

* An ability to deal with all aspects of litigation,

* The ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines,
